Love Like Tea Leaves

My love is like a coffee shop
Sneaking softly in the blood
 A comfortable feeling,
  Stop-animation flood.
   Stepping out to snowflakes
    Floating to my feet
     Streetlamps without flicker
      Warm the slowest beat.
       My heart feels your approach
And the tea leaves in my veins
         Rustle like in autumn--
          An excitement fairly feigned.
My love is like a lonely street
          With a breeze I can't ignore
And a warmth from far within
         My eyes have oft explored.
Holding on where I am weakest
       Is such a mystery.
Let not your own heart give in--
     Be merciful with me.
    Surrounded in a beauty
   So like a photograph
  In softest grey or sepia.
 Today feels like the past,
Like I've been here once before
And I've seen your lovely eyes.
But I don't know who you are yet,
Thus these, harshest of goodbyes.
My love is like a coffee shop;
 My stranger, what am I
To your heart (until we've met)
But a snowflake in the sky?
    Lonely streets and teacups
     Tend to be left behind.
My love is like a coffee shop
       Until your heart is
                                      M
                                I
                          N
                     E.
