When love is outnumbered, outweighed
By the cost of hard life, fate obeyed,
Life mourns for a moment and dies
For beautiful orphan brown eyes.
Unfairness of life will allow
One child to rise, one to bow
To the weight of inclement skies
Pace beautiful orphan brown eyes.
Fatherless child, hold to grace
In the worst sort of godless place
And let the compassionate cry
For beautiful orphan brown eyes.
You're never alone, never lost,
And sparkling like gold among dross.
Love comes in a gentle disguise
To beautiful orphan brown eyes.
You will not be left without hope
For one will see past the broad scope
Of circumstance, borders, supplies
For beautiful orphan brown eyes.
Small hands, hungry tears, not unseen.
To God you are treasured and clean.
His justice and love will arise
For beautiful orphan brown eyes.

A kyrielle for DFC day 26. Kyrielle is a French form with meter and a repeating refrain. It can be written with couplets, or alternating. I chose couplets and eight syllables. I chose to focus my topic on something weightier, because I think Poetry ought to be put to such use. Reminders to act for and to pray for those who are in deep need. Reminders to not take for granted how good we have it. [link] [link]
