Draw your sword, I dare you.
We've fought like this before.
Neither of us willing
To surrender. Wounds still sore
From the last time our swords met
In the heat of furious war.
But both of our agendas
Are too obvious to ignore.
You are the stronger challenger--
I readily admit.
And you cannot understand
Just how my anger's lit
By the way you stand your guard--
But you inflict me quite a bit.
Our fascination with this war--
We can't get over it.
I want so much to fight you,
For you frighten me--you do.
So I put up my defenses
And run excuses through
With disarming charm; a weapon
I prefer to use with you,
But your sense of brav'ry flares
And the battle starts anew.
We'll be fighting this forever
For you will not see my side,
And I'll neither see your own,
Nor show you what I hide.
So grab your toughest armor,
And hang on for the ride,
Because the battle will move forward
With no turning of the tide.
The Lord steps in as judge
And wants us to agree.
To lay aside our weapons
And move on in harmony.
But I really can't surrender,
For I long for you to see
How much I want to lose to you;
To let you conquer me.
My enemy, my dearest friend,
I cannot let you in.
I cannot show my deepest fear;
My soul-- or where I've been.
God willing, you will understand,
And the battle will begin--
You'll drop your weapons, I'll drop mine,
And both of us will win.

...ng. Bein' a little vulnerable here, again. But I gotta post it--it's for NaPo.
