Desire for solitude and peace
Begs I leave lest my heart cease.
Oh for a thousand words to speak;
Oh for deafening silence to seek!
I'll away at just one word.
That voice so little lately heard.
And in the thundering of my ears
Hear naught but you, and all my fears
Erased and bid never return.
Your wind begins to ache and burn
Within me-- I'll cry out tonight
Locked with chains around me tight.
For I've nowhere to go to find
The one I seem to have left behind.
Take me away, Lord, set me free.
More than anything, I need
Your touch and all your love poured out.
My words alone fill me with doubt.
The noise is inescapable,
My eyes are dry, my heart is full.
Let not your servant sink and drown
In ceaseless noise where you're not found.
I need silence-- I need you.
You alone suffice to pull me through.
Rush in and set your servant free.
Take the noise away, or just take me.
