April 25-Pilgrim

I sit awhile, forget my age,
On the front porch, turn the page,
Eating ice cream here with you
And wondering who I should turn to.

Let it be that I am lost
And focus be turned to the cross.
Let me fade as sunset starts,
And be forgotten by all hearts

Until all see you, not I.
I sing the truth, ere I fly
Away from time, fear, and constraints.
It is each step I take which paints

A picture of who we two are.
Give me words, Lord, take me far.
The sound of highways just begun
And footsteps taken, races run

Echoes in each minute past,
And I wonder how long it lasts
Before time takes its toll on those
Who take the roads I lately chose.

No matter, no fear: I am free.
The year goes on, with or without me,
And I will watch the sunset glow
And know you'll show me where to go.

I am not me without you, Lord.
May it be not I adored.
Shine your light on me today,
As this pilgrim makes her way.
